Advanced Practitioners

An Advanced Practitioner is a Registered Nurse (RN) who has additional education and training. Many conditions can be seen by our Advanced Practitioner who can also prescribe medications. These are some of the conditions you could see her/him for:

* Coughs/colds

* COPD

* Chest infections

* Sore throat

* Flu like symptoms

* Minor eye conditions

* Earache/wax

* hayfever

* Eczema and dry skin conditions

* Indigestion and heartburn

* Irritable bowl syndrome

* Constipation / diarrhoea

* Thrush

* Cystitis

* Urine infection

* Muscle pain and strain

* Generalised pain

* Headaches

* Rashes

* Minor accidents

Please ask the receptionist to make an appointment with the Advanced Practitioner instead of the Doctor if you think he/she can help you. However there may be restrictions on under 18 year olds or pregnant women.

You may also be offered a telephone call back appointment if our routine appointments are all booked on the day. The Advanced Practitioner will return your call and either advise over the telephone or request that you are seen on an urgent appointment.

Paramedic Practitioner

Paramedic practitioners triage and manage a variety of acute minor illnesses and injuries, provide face to face clinics and telephone advice. Assess and manage request for same day urgent home visits as well as regular visits to housebound patients with long term conditions.

Nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. they may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Practice Management

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Administration

The administration team are very experienced in dealing with patient records including correspondence received from hospitals and carrying out searches and practice audits.

Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions, dealing with prescription enquiries and patient registrations.

Secretaries

Secretaries deal with referrals for the GPs and carry out a number of administration tasks associated with referrals and consultant enquiries
