How things have changed
Please click here to see the changes the NHS has made to ensure it is safe for people to visit our services.
The clinical team will continue to deal with as much as possible via AskMyGP and telephone to avoid patients unnecessarily attending the surgery. The reduced footfall in the surgery will help to minimise the risk of spread while continuing to ensure people get the care and advice they need. This is for your safety as well as ours.
When attending the surgery for an appointment you will need to wear a face mask/covering, you may be refused entry and your appointment if you are not. This is to safeguard other patients and staff during your visit. This guidance is still in place from 19th July.
Please note we are unable to supply exemption letters for the government’s rules around wearing face coverings. Please access the following for more information https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-safer-travel-guidance-for-passengers#exemptions-face-coverings

Patient update from The Cedars Surgery: like other GP practices, we are affected by the current national shortage of blood tubes. In order to continue blood tests for people with the greatest clinical need, we are delaying routine and non-urgent blood tests in line with national guidance. If you have an appointment booked in the next few weeks the reception team will be in touch via phone or text. Your appointment will be rescheduled once the situation is resolved. We will be providing regular updates on our website, which we encourage you to check for the latest info. Please don’t contact us – we will be in touch with you when appointments can be rescheduled. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Welcome to The Cedars Surgery
We serve patients from 2 premises, The Cedars Surgery at 87 New Bristol Road and Worle Health Centre at 125 High Street. There is a large carpark situated behind Worle Health Centre, free for 2 hours and a small patient car park at the rear of The Cedars Surgery.
We encourage patients to see the same doctor for continuity but patients are able to choose to be seen at either of these practices.
With patients' needs at the heart of everything we do, our website has been designed to make it easy for you to gain instant access to the information you need. As well as specific practice details such as opening hours and how to register, you'll find a wealth of useful pages covering a wide range of health issues along with links to other relevant medical organisations.
Important changes to routine and non-urgent blood test appointments
All GP practices are affected by the current national shortage of blood tubes and are taking urgent steps alongside our hospitals to prioritise their use for people with the greatest clinical need. This includes testing for serious conditions such as cancer.
We are following national guidance which has been issued in response to the shortage. As a result, we need to cancel and delay a number of patient appointments for blood tests deemed routine or non-urgent. If you have a routine blood test appointment the reception team at the surgery will be in touch directly if they need to cancel your appointment, this will be by phone or by text message.
Please be assured that appointments will be rescheduled once the situation has improved, and in line with national guidance. There are a few things you can do if you are affected by this change:
- Keep checking our website for regular updates – we will be sharing the latest patient information here as soon as we receive it.
- Check your phone for messages from us – we will also be using our patient text service to keep people informed.
- Please don’t call or contact us with questions about routine blood tests – we are experiencing exceptional levels of demand at the moment, and your cooperation will help us to reach those without smartphone or internet access with this critical information.
- Do get in touch online if your condition worsens or changes so that we can prioritise your blood test if necessary following clinical review
The changes are likely to be in place for at least four weeks. We will keep all our patients regularly updated as the national situation changes. We fully understand the frustration this is likely to cause, and apologise for the inconvenience.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you of the wider resources available locally to support you, including the emotional support line for those experiencing anxiety or distress. You can find more here: https://bnssghealthiertogether.org.uk/localresources/

YOUR PATIENT DATA MATTERS TO US!!!
Following on from recent news and social media speculation about NHS Digital and data sharing as a number of posts are circulating on social media about the national data opt-out, containing incorrect information. We thought it may be helpful to provide some key information and links to help you with your decision making and if you might be now thinking of opting out of sharing any of your data as it’s your choice.
Please click here for more information.
See our *News* page for more details on Opting Out preferences
Get Well, Keep Well
Of course we're not just here for when you are unwell. Our team of healthcare professionals offer a number of clinics and services to promote good health and wellbeing whatever your medical condition.
We hope you enjoy having a look around the site and familiarising yourself with some of the online features such as ordering a repeat prescription and appointment booking. Whatever your thoughts, be sure to let us know via our feedback function. Comments and suggestions are always a great way of helping us to continue to enhance the way we look after you.
We have an active Patient Participation Group which provides feedback and advice to the practice in order to ensure we provide the best possible services to our patients. We really would welcome more patients onto the group to ensure a cross section of patient needs. If you would be willing to be a member for a year or longer if you wish, please contact the practice and complete a form or ask to speak to Livi Tratt, Practice Manager. Your commitment would be four meetings per annum and an odd one or two additional meetings if the need arises.
If You Are Unable To Keep Your Appointment for any reason
Please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. We have an option on the telephone system to Press 1 and leave a voice mail message to cancel your appointment. Please follow the instructions as we will be unable to action any other message apart from cancelling appointments. This option is available 24/7 and will be picked up Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 and 18:30. You can also text CANCEL when you are sent a text message reminder of your appointment. If you have not agreed to the text messaging service please consider and let the practice know you would like to receive texts.
